Matchbox heaven

Whilst conducting research for my animation module i found this awesome music video for the song “My place” by Navigators. The video itself basically is lyrics from the song portrayed in a visually interesting way, a very simple idea that’s been done many times however the execution via using fake vintage style matchboxes is what gives this piece an edge. Altogether there was 178 boxes altogether each uniquely designed by Pavel Fuksa a prague based designer. The imagery on the matchboxes uses block color in a way which creates a stylized retro quality that’s very reflective of the music. I love the simplicity and the randomness of the visuals, and how it links to the word that they’re portraying. All in all a very good find and one that i will definitely remember. Hope you liked it too. P.S. the song’s not too bad either, very catchy.
